Long Happy Cow, Alteration & Additions

This alteration and addition to an existing house in the rural hinterland of Maleny on the Sunshine Coast; seeks to turn a weekend retreat into the full-time residence for a couple transitioning towards life after full-time work.
The driving design value for the clients is universal design to facilitate easy use as the couple "age in place" with dignity.

The spatial programme included:
(1) alterations to the existing living area and kitchen to provide improved function and views out to the rolling hills of the neighbouring dairy;
(2) addition of a master suite and artist studio;
(3) improved thermal and acoustic performance of the building fabric.
