Walker Eco-Access Residence, Golden Beach
The Walkers desired to build a sustainable and accessible home and sought preliminary design advice from PlaceSense to bring their aspirations to reality. The spatial programme provided by the client and shown in their concept plan was critiqued by analysing the site, context and climate. Phillip then provided an alternative proposition to reconcile the programme with the family's poetic vision.
A compact house plan was transformed into two pavilions united by an outdoor, undercover room - encouraging an intimate relationship with the Sunshine Coast climate. The Walkers, confident in their own capabilities and the new vision for their home, directed the construction process. Award: 2011 Living Smart Awards Category: Golden Glossy – Excellence in Sustainable Design Residential construction under $350k
